Above and Beyond Award
Emphasizing the importance of the Above and Beyond program at CVMC, President and CEO Judy Tarr wrote in an email to all employees “Beginning in 2008, I will present all Above and Beyond awards personally to the person who was nominated for the award,” she wrote. “Above and Beyond awards are available to any employee, physician or volunteer who goes ‘Above and Beyond’ in their job. Any one in the organization can nominate any person (including physicians, employees, trustees and volunteers) at any one of our locations.”
To qualify for an award, the nominator needs to describe a very specific event that illustrates the nominee going “Above and Beyond.” Good examples of going Above and Beyond include specific acts of kindness from employee to patient or employee to employee or physician to employee or vice-versa. Also, performing functions that are not normally a part of the job might quality someone for an award.
