June 1, 2006 On Sunday, June 4, over 700 communities throughout the United States, Canada, and other participating countries, will observe the 19th annual National Cancer Survivors Day by hosting celebrations of life.
The central Vermont community is holding a celebration at the Wood Art Gallery on the Vermont College campus in Montpelier on Sunday June 4 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Entertainment, refreshments and speakers will be featured.
Cancer survivors will be honored for their strength and courage, and the contributions of their families, friends and healthcare providers will be recognized. A “survivor” is anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life, according to the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation, which reports that 10 million Americans are cancer survivors.
