September 6, 2006  Berlin, Vt – The Central Vermont Medical Center Cardiac Rehabilitation program recently received notification that they have been certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The AACVPR is a national, multidisciplinary association dedicated to the improvement of clinical practice, promotion of scientific inquiry, and advancement of education for the benefit of professionals and patients they serve. The AACVPR certification recognizes programs rigorously reviewed by the national board who meet the AACVPR requirements for standards of care.
CVMC’s is one of only four certified programs in the state of Vermont. “This certification is the result of the hard work and wonderful patient care provided by our rehab nurses,” stated cardiologist Mark Heitzman MD. “Our program is one of the best and most popular outpatient departments at CVMC.”
Staff nurse Penny Miller RN, recently achieved certification as a cardiac/vascular nurse specialist from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. ANCC is the leading nursing credentialing organization in the U.S. with a strong commitment to quality patient care. Accreditation is a peer review system based on designated standards and criteria for continuing education in nursing.
