June 6, 2007  Berlin, Vt -- Central Vermont Medical Center has over 300 volunteers who contribute over 30,000 hours every year. Volunteers were honored at a National Volunteer Week recognition luncheon and awards were given out to volunteers contributing 300 hours or more during 2006. CVMC’s dedicated volunteers work in many different areas including the hospital, Woodridge Nursing Home, knitters who make comfort shawls, bags and chemo caps, the Auxiliary owned hospital gift shop and the Bene-fit Shop in Barre. Funds generated by the shops are used to support programs at Central Vermont Medical Center and community projects in central Vermont. Hjonis Hanson, CVMC volunteer manager, gave out awards for top numbers of volunteer hours worked in 2006.

- Recognition for 500-599 hours: Laurel Finucane, Waterbury 516 hours.
- Recognition for 400-499 hours: Katherine Collins, Graniteville 411 hours; Shirley Farnham, Barre 443 hours; and Eleonore Traynor, Barre 425 hours.
- Recognition for 300-399 hours: Agnes Aubertin, Barre 355 hours; Carole Baker, Montpelier 343 hours; Paula Berno, Barre 340 hours; Marie Burke, Barre 331 hours; Betty Daniels, Worcester 376 hours; Anita Ellero, Barre 304 hours; Margaret Garcia, Montpelier, 367 hours; Alan Gilbert, Jr., Washington 351 hours; Joan Habbep Barre 304 hours; John Koval, Montpelier 366 hours; Lydia Lewis, Montpelier 302 hours; Betty Moskowitz, Calais 300 hours; and Jeannine Rubalcaba, Barre 304 hours.
