Linda George MSN, RNC, CNM joins Central Vermont Midwifery

September 20, 2007

Due to the positive community response to the opening of midwifery services at Central Vermont Medical Center, CVMC is happy to announce that Linda George MSN, RNC, CNM  has joined Kathryn Saunders BSN, CPNP, CNM at Central Vermont Midwifery.

Linda George began her education in the neighboring state of New Hampshire where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology at St. Anselm’s College.  Linda then attended the MGH Institute of Health Professionals in Boston where she earned both her RN and Master of Science as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.  She earned her certificate in nurse midwifery at the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Practice in Kentucky.  She currently has official recognition as an RN and CNM in the states of Vermont, Maine and South Carolina.

After finishing her schooling in Boston, Linda started out her career in South Carolina as a nurse practitioner with the National Health Service Corps, paying off her graduate school loans in two years, working in a high needs area in Hartsville.

Linda’s been in women’s health care for more than 15 years, primarily in South Carolina and most recently in a large OB/GYN practice in Lewiston, Maine where she provided full-scope obstetrics and gynecologic care to clients both in the office and in the hospital. “I’ve done this for over 15 years now,” said Linda.  “I love working with women.”

“I love attending births even at 2:00 o’clock in the morning,” she continued. “I do not mind being up in the middle of the night to attend someone’s birth.  Think about it.  I’m the one who has the pleasure of laying hands to that baby before anyone else. There’s nothing better in the world. ”

Central Vermont Midwifery is relocating to the medical office building next to the hospital, 195 Hospital Loop, suites 2-3, space occupied by Dr. Coates until his recent retirement.  Their phone number remains the same, 802-371-4544.  The practice is accepting new patients.  Central Vermont Midwifery independently manages the care of their healthy patients and also has 24-hour access to physicians board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as anesthesiology.
